Straffe Hendrik Wild is a “wild” version of
the famous Straffe Hendrik Tripel. The traditional
triple beer is re-fermented with a wild
“Brettanomyces” yeast, that creates unusual
fruity aromas in harmony with the rich use of
aromatic hop varieties.
The wild yeasts also provide a longer natural
shelf life to the beer and taste developing over
the years. The beer needs a longer maturing
period in the bottle before it can be released
and therefore fi rst matures in the bottle for
3 months in the cellars of the brewery. The re-fermentation
with wild yeast is only finished after
3 months and the young beer is palatable.
The beer will continue developing in the subsequent
years. The bitter hop aromas will become
softer, whereas the wild Brettanomyces
yeasts will continue working and creating hints
of fruit, flowers and wine.
Straffe Hendrik Wild is only bottled once a
year, and after maturing for 3 months in the
bottle, it is released in April. The beer combines
the rich tradition of this Bruges triple beer
with the innovating work with wild Brettanomyces.
The result is a unique beer appreciated by
beer lovers worldwide.

Since 1651, Brouwerij Sterkens has been brewing traditional, delicious abbey beers of high fermentation in Meer, a small village in the north of Belgium.
Brewed according to tradition and old recipes, complimented by knowledge and experience obtained from past decades, are still the biggest assets in the brewing process of Brouwerij Sterkens.
The St. Sebastiaan Grand Cru is a golden, heavy fermented abbey beer with a distinctive fruity aroma and subtle hints of elaborately selected herbs. This Grand Cru has a nice balance between sweet and bitter and has a nice full-bodied taste with a soft, malty aftertaste. It is re-fermented by the brewery in the jug and or bottle. The result is a nice, clear beer with a wonderful aroma and, for those who love it, a touch of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

The third Brewmasters Edition of Gulden Draak is currently so ‘hot’ that the Van Steenberge brewery sold out of stock two months before the expected date.
The brewmaster, Jef Versele, a 6th-generation brewer, developed the exclusive Gulden Draak Brewmasters Edition in honour of his grandfather, Jozef Versele. His grandfather’s great respect for the tradition of artisanal specialty beers was a source of inspiration for Jef. The Gulden Draak ‘The Brewmasters Edition’ is the result of combining modern technology with traditional craft. The beer acquires its unique, fine taste from maturation in whisky barrels.
PATIENCE REQUIRED The Gulden Draak Brewmasters Edition is brewed just once a year and requires 7 months to complete its brewing and maturation process. ‘You can’t just shorten that period. But this is what we call a luxury problem in Belgium. It’s worth the wait.’ Now the wait is over and our limited supply is available in BC
