The King and Queen of the Belgians Visit
March 2018
Sunday, March 11, 2018 to Sunday, March 18, 2018

I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the King and Queen of the Belgians. It was truly an honour. They were in Canada with a Trade Delegation from Belgium and Brouwerij de Halve Maan invited me to participate with them.

We partied with their Majesties at a Black Tie event, did business with them at our contract signing and chatted with the Queen at a chocolate festival. I was also honoured to meet the Secretary of Foreign Trade, Pieter de Crem, at our launch party in Ottawa for the first bottle de Halve Maan Quadruple to be opened in Ontario.

Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal in 3 days was a whirlwind but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thank you Zavier and Steve for the invitation.

New Year - New Beers
Extra Special Beers for the start of the New Year

I trust everyone has sufficiently recovered from the festive season and are now back in full-grind mode. To help you get back in the groove, we've brought in 2 absolutely incredible beers for your enjoyment.

SKU 37240 Rodenbach Caractere 7% alc./vol.  W:  $13.75/bottle,, R: $16.79/bottle

Rodenbach Caractère Rouge, crowned the World's Best Fruit Flavoured ale at the 2016 WBA, is an extremely complex and refined fruit ale. The brewing process takes more than two and a half years. It is matured for 2 years in oak casks and then spends 6 months macerating with fresh red fruits: cherries, raspberries and cranberries. The ale was developed by the brewery's "fruit master", and since its launch in 2012 has won major awards each year.

Rodenbach Caractère Rouge can best be compared to a young top Burgundy wine, with the same combination of delicacy and power

We managed to get 40 cases. ... View Full Post »

Extra Special Beers Have Arrived
So Few Cases Available

SKU 420216:  We just got extremely lucky! We were able to get 20 cases of Scaldis Prestige, an amazing honey coloured ale that is matured in oak barrels for at least six months. This beer consistently rates 99 or 100 on RateBeer.com

During bottling, a small quantity of sugar and yeast is added to the beer which is then placed in a hot room. This causes refermentation in the bottle that gives it a natural cloudiness and a particularly high alcohol content of +11%."   This is an amazing beer to cellar - if you can keep any that long!

Because of the rarity and popularity of this beer, it is very, very difficult to get.

This is the first time Bravo Beer has been able to purchase any in many years and we only were able to get 20 cases. Order yours now because we don't... View Full Post »

Go Wild!
Straffe Hendrik Wild 2017 and Taster Packs

Straffe Hendrik Wild is a “wild” version of
the famous Straffe Hendrik Tripel. The traditional
triple beer is re-fermented with a wild
“Brettanomyces” yeast, that creates unusual
fruity aromas in harmony with the rich use of
aromatic hop varieties.

The wild yeasts also provide a longer natural
shelf life to the beer and taste developing over
the years. The beer needs a longer maturing
period in the bottle before it can be released
and therefore fi rst matures in the bottle for
3 months in the cellars of the brewery. The re-fermentation
with wild yeast is only finished after
3 months and the young beer is palatable.
The beer will continue developing in the subsequent
years. The bitter hop aromas will become
softer, whereas the wild Brettanomyces
yeasts will continue working and creating hints
of fruit, flowers and wine.

Straffe Hendrik Wild is only bottled once a... View Full Post »
